General Information (Centre Hastings Minor Hockey)

PrintGeneral Information

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Registration and Next Season

We are asking for those interested in playing next year to register on our website beginning May 14. Your registration is important so we can once again get an idea of numbers for teams next year.

In anticipation of a full season we will require full payment before a player steps on the ice for evaluations.

If we end up having a shorter season next year (e.g. a late start) we will be able to adjust registration fees prior to start up to reflect less ice time for teams.

Please be patient as we wait for direction from OMHA on what we can offer. We are anxious to have all our Grizzlies on the ice again, but not at the risk of the health of any of our players or families.

At this time there are no in-person registration dates scheduled.

The Centre Hastings Minor Hockey Association would like to provide you with all the registration procedure information that you need to sign up your son or daughter for next season.  We need your help in ensuring smooth registration procedures so that we can then focus on our numbers and programs for next year.

Here are some policies that the executive would like you to know about:
•    Only the Treasurer will accept payment (cheques/cash) for registration fees.
E-Transfers can be sent to [email protected].

•    We have a new online registration form, that can be filled out here.
Any other required documents need to be sent to Jessica Hughes, Second Vice President/Registration Coordinator

1. Cheques can be dated as early as May 14, 2021, and as late as September 1st, 2021 for your payment of the 2021-22 season.

2. All Non Sufficient Fund (NSF) charges will be added to registration fees.

3. If you are planning on applying for financial assistance please indicate this on the registration forms so that our Treasurer is aware.

4. Players will not be able to participate until all registration items (payments/documents) are received (this includes practices and games).

Returning players:
Players who were registered last year with the CHMHA will need to:
•    Complete a 2021-2022 registration form
•    Send an e-transfer or write a cheque or for the upcoming season’s registration fee(s)

New players:
First-time registrants with the CHMHA will need to:
•    Complete a registration form
•    Write a cheque/cash for the upcoming season’s registration fee(s)
•    Provide a photocopy of the child’s birth certificate
•    One parent per household must complete the Respect in Sport online course
•    If the child previously played in another minor hockey association and has relocated, the parent will need to provide the documentation necessary to complete an OMHA Residential Transfer.  (We will require a copy of a hydro bill, school registration records/record card, parent’s driver’s licence, house/property ownership)

Late registration is possible, but to have as accurate idea for numbers as possible we ask everyone to have their registrations in by August 15th, 2022.

*NOTE:    Families with more than 2 children signing up with the CHMHA will be exempt from paying fundraising fees for any/all additional players (over 2)
Important Notes:

a) Players with outstanding fees from the previous season will not be able to get on the ice until those fees and the current season fees have been paid.

b) There will be a $75.00 late fee added to all registration fees received after the final registration date of August 15th, 2021. Please don’t be late!
c) In order to make informed decisions regarding the icing of teams this year, the CHMHA will decide which teams will fold after the final registration date. If you have not signed up by August 15th, and a team is folded, YOU WILL NOT be eligible for a release to play in any other centre for the 2021-22 season. If you have any questions related to registration policies within the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, please speak to a member of the CHMHA executive.

d) After the first tryout date for each team, the Registration Coordinator will not be responsible for tracking down individual forms and documentation.  Coaches/managers and parents will need to assume these responsibilities.  No one is allowed on the ice before the Registration Coordinator receives forms and documentation and payment has been made.  Coaches/managers need to take responsibility in over seeing this.
We are proud of the fundraising efforts that have been developed to help offset the registration cost of playing minor hockey in our community.  These efforts make up over half of our yearly operating budget.  Our region has been very supportive of the CHMHA Grizzlies, and we thank all of you for your help.
On behalf of the CHMHA executive, thank you in advance for your co-operation!
